While on their trip, John spent time talking to former business associates whom the Groves stopped to visit along the way. These conversations combined with a tragic event—two workers being electrocuted on scaffolding when the Groves were visiting Hoover Dam— John uncovered a substantial market for a product that could promptly and securely elevate individuals in the air to accomplish maintenance and other construction functions.
